What are Bible believers called to celebrate?
Christians should celebrate communion to commemorate Jesus’ death.
1 Corinthians 11:24-26 says, “and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, ‘Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.’ In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.’ For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.”
At baptism, Christians should especially remember Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection.
Romans 6:3-6 says, “Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.”
Christians should worship and celebrate the Creator.
Revelation 14:7 says, “...Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.”
How should Christians celebrate the Creator?
Exodus 20:8-11 says, “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.... For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.”
Should Christians celebrate every modern holiday? What about Halloween?
Ephesians 5:11 says, “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.”
2 Corinthians 6:16-17 also says, “And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: ‘I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people.’ Therefore ‘Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.’”
